Latest

Enjoy the best of what Dublin has to offer this St. Patrick’s Day.Take part in one of the greatest and widely recognised celebrations the world over! The Dublin festival has grown to be a much loved and eagerly awaited event on the Dublin calendar and will take place this year from the 14th to the 17th of March.  The holiday will be marked with creative ferocity in Dublin city and promises to be a truly unforgettable experience.

The theme for the 2015 festival is Celebrate Now and there will be an abundance of fantastic citywide events to enable the best celebration imaginable. Funfairs, live music, céilís and comedy are what this festival is all about. Keep the party going after dark to watch some of Dublin’s most iconic buildings like St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Guinness Storehouse go GREEN.

Can’t wait to celebrate? Tons of awesome events will be kicking off from this weekend onwards in Dublin city centre. A CARNIVAL themed St. Paddy’s Day party in the sublime subterranean den of The Liquor Rooms (just downstairs here at The Clarence!) will roll into town on Saturday evening from 5pm. They’ll be bringing the parade underground for a night of carnival fun in their vintage chic surroundings with tantalising table magic, carnival burlesque by Bella A GoGo and fantastic freak show acts like Grim Squeaker.

Celebrate St. Paddy’s EVE on Monday 16th with Irish ól, ceoil and craic by the festival gurus from Body & Soul. Grab a ticket to hear some fabulous tunes at ‘Ériu’ in the gorgeous, historic surroundings of the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA). This beautifully alternative music-fest will feature some stunning light installations and a host of great emerging Irish music acts as well as performances from Lamb, Jape, Katie Kim and others. In addition, folk are invited to indulge in a two course candlelit vegan-friendly feast before all the great sounds after supper. With the dress code set as ‘excessive/transgressive’ this is set up to be a Paddy’s Eve like no other.

The St. Patrick’s Day parade’s theatrical procession will take place on Tuesday March 17th, when the city centre will embrace festival mania for one final day. Bands from the USA, Mexico, Germany and Ireland will perform amidst thrilling performances and colourful pageantry.

With the help of Happenings and Dublin City Council, Meeting House Square in the local neighbourhood of Temple Bar will transform into a drink free ‘buzzing ‘beerless’ bunker’ for Paddy’s Day Unlocked from 3pm. If you drop by after the parade on Tuesday afternoon expect a plethora of fun filled happenings. Listen to new Irish music curated by Nialler9, eat some scrumptious local food, and take part in cool, cultural & creative activities suitable for all ages.

The whole world is Irish for the next few days, so grab some tri-colour face paint, pin on some lucky shamrock and start celebrating NOW!
